Job Description
Job Summary: The Licensed Physical Therapist provides and executes a Physical Therapy plan of care for patients who have impairments, functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease, or other causes.
Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities
- Performs comprehensive patient assessments and reassessments to identify functional limitations, establish treatment goals, and determine appropriate interventions.
- Develops individualized treatment plans based on physician referrals, clinical findings, patient needs, and evidence-based practice standards.
- Maintains timely and accurate documentation of patient care, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and associated charges.
- Educates patients, families, and caregivers regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, home exercise programs, safety precautions, and discharge recommendations.
- Collaborates with physicians, nurses, case managers, and other interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes.
- Ensures compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, safety, infection prevention, and documentation standards applicable to the practice of physical therapy.
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives, performance improvement activities, and departmental projects designed to enhance patient care and operational effectiveness.
- Provides leadership and direction for Physical Therapist Assistants, support staff and Physical Therapy students.
- Participates in professional development and continuing education to ensure compliance with licensure laws and hospital policies.
- Participates in departmental operational planning and goals action item meetings.

Required Qualifications:

- One of the following qualification groupings is required for this position as indicated below:
- Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited school or University.
- Current licensure by Texas Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy Examiners.
- Master's in Physical Therapy from an accredited school or University.
- 3 plus years of experience working as a Physical Therapist.
- Current licensure by Texas Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy Examiners.
