Job Description
Description: The Activity Therapy Assistant is responsible for assisting the Recreation Therapist in completing a full range of treatment modalities. This job will assist with the providing of activity therapy services and functions as a member of the Interdisciplinary treatment team.
Typical Duties
- Assists in coordinating and delivering services offered by Activity Therapy to population served.
- Assists in providing individual Activities Therapies, as ordered by the patients’ physician.
- Charts on each assigned patient per operating procedure. May maintain other records, as assigned.
- Maintains clinical competence for adolescent, adult and geriatric Activity Therapy services. Exhibits professional growth and development.
- Works effectively and respectfully with patients, families, and staff members of diverse backgrounds, various income levels, differing cultural and spiritual beliefs, and varying abilities and disabilities.
- Participates in Adjunctive Therapy Performance Improvement and Department or Hospital Committees, as assigned.
- Ensures that Activity Therapy equipment and its use meet safety and infection control requirements.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
- Associate Degree in Recreational Therapy, Activity Therapy, or other related field.
- One plus year of experience working with psychiatric patients.
- Certification in Non-Aggressive Crisis Management; must be obtained while in orientation and maintained throughout employment.
