What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laborer - Residential Construction position at JPS Construction and Design?
The Laborer performs a variety of physical labor tasks on residential and commercial construction projects. Work includes site preparation, demolition, cleanup, material handling, and assisting skilled trades under supervision. Tasks include demolition, material handling, site cleanup, and basic carpentry support under the direction of the Lead Carpenter or Site Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demolition & Protection: Move furniture, protect surfaces, and assist in demolition as directed.
- Support: Pick up/deliver materials, transport tools/equipment, and assist carpenters, tilers, and supervisors with construction tasks. Load and unload building materials to be used on construction projects. Dig trenches and holes needed in construction projects.
- Cleaning: Collect and dispose of debris, sweep/vacuum, and remove trash for job sites daily. Remove debris and possible hazards to keep construction sites clean and safe.
- General: Keep job sites orderly. Maintain trailer organization and follow safety procedures.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of carpentry and construction techniques and procedures preferred.
- OSHA-10 certificate (or obtain within first 90 days).
- Ability to follow instructions from supervisors and carpenters.
- Basic math skills (e.g., reading a tape measure), problem solving, organization and communication skills.
- Comfortable using a smartphone and email.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
