Company Description JPS Construction and Design is a design-build firm (mostly high-end residential construction) seeking a skilled and motivated Lead Carpenter to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for executing a wide range of rough carpentry and detailed finish work to ensure structures are weathertight, are completed to high-quality standards, and comply with building codes. Work is performed under the supervision of the Project Manager and includes both interior and exterior construction tasks. - Role Description Demolition & Protection: Move furniture, protect surfaces, and demolish structures as directed.
- Rough Carpentry: Frame floors, walls, decks, and roofs; install windows, doors, siding, roofing, and decking with proper weather protection. Measure, mark, and arrange materials to established layout based on blueprints or instructions from supervisors. Use various hand and power tools to securely build assigned projects.
- Finish Carpentry: Install interior/exterior trim, stairs, cabinetry, built-ins, and hardware with precision.
- General Duties: Generate daily material lists, maintain trailer organization, ensure building code compliance, and follow safety procedures.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of vocational school or technical college or apprenticeship program; OR at least three years of experience via on-the-job training required.
- Ability to understand directions and read/interpreting construction documents and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry principles and building materials. Proficiency with construction methods, building codes, carpentry, and hand/power tools.
- Basic math, problem-solving, and organization skills.
- Comfortable using a smartphone and email.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Able to communicate (written and oral) effectively in English.
