What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2nd Shift Machine Operator Intermediate -Slasher position at JPS Composite Materials?
The slasher operator is a customer of warping and supplier to the weaving and entering departments. The operator is responsible for producing the highest quality warps, while running efficiently. He/she will mix size according to formula while also making sure that temperature and time requirements have been met. He/she will set machines, make adjustments when need, and monitor the machine throughout the slashing process and also handle and transport materials (e.g., beams). Slasher operator is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of his/her machine at all times, following weekly TPM cleaning and audit schedule, and using the lock out tag out program. He/she will complete all paperwork and computer-based information systems. Maintain all records according to ISO *AS9100 standards.

The company’s materials are found in a multitude of composite matrix applications including commercial aircraft interiors, radomes for commercial and military aircraft, ballistic applications for military vests and vehicles as well as electronic applications including automobile sensors and telecommunication antenna. JPS has over 60 years of experience in our markets and is the primary supplier of these products in North America.
The corporate headquarters are in Anderson, SC with manufacturing facilities located in North and South Carolina.

- 0-3 years’ experience
- Basic math abilities for calculating materials needed
- General computer knowledge
- Able to use material handling equipment (hoist, hand jack)
- Must pass slasher pre-hire test
- Must be able to work in a tight, confined area without damaging yarn
