As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking - Architecture and Engineering team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.
Job responsibilities
- Regularly provide technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors
- Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
- Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus
- Influences peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies
- Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
- Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
- Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
- Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5 years applied experience
- Advanced in one or more programming language(s) and framework(s) (i.e., Java, Python, Rest API, Micro Services, React JS, etc.)
- Proficiency in automation with infrastructure and cloud engineering concepts, including infrastructure architecture, servers, storage, networking, containerization technologies, and virtualizations - along with continuous delivery methods
- Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD (Git Hub Actions, Jenkins, Spinnaker, ArgoCD, etc.), test automation, artifact management, and release engineering, DevOps, Application Resiliency, and Security
- Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
- Advanced experience with cloud-native architectures, including infrastructure deployment, observability, containerization and orchestration (AWS, Kubernetes/EKS, ECS, Terraform, Cloud Formation, Helm, Docker)
Strong knowledge of system design fundamentals, distributed system patterns, API design, microservices, event-driven architecture, and messaging systems (Kafka, JMS, SQS, SNS)
Demonstrated experience in building platform services, reusable components, SDKs, and automation frameworks that improve developer experience and operational efficiency.
- Proficiency in Trunk-Based Development, Feature Toggles, Blue-Green Deployments, and Canary Releases.
- Practical cloud native experience
Knowledge of mobile app delivery to provide improved solutions, experience in AWS or any cloud, Cloud foundry
Ability to drive shift-left strategies and modernize software delivery experiences
Experience developing and operating AI agents and tools including LLMs, AWS Bedrock, Smart SDKs, API and UI facades for enterprise CI/CD toolchain to promote extensibility and innovation
Experience gathering feedback, and metrics from developers and stakeholders on tools usage to continuously improve the CD processes
