As a Live-In Caregiver, you will work closely with my wife and me. My wife has dementia. Your engaging, proactive approach and empathetic nature will foster a nurturing atmosphere that promotes trust and dignity.
Responsibilities
- Deliver attentive patient care by assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and grooming—engagement in activities with her throughout the day.
- Monitor residents’ vital signs regularly and observe for any changes in health status, reporting findings accurately to me and healthcare professionals.
- Administer medications safely following prescribed care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and preferences, ensuring proper food handling and sanitation standards are maintained.
- Maintain detailed documentation of care activities, medication administration, and patient observations to support ongoing care planning.
- Engage residents in social activities and provide companionship to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
- Conduct routine cleaning of living spaces to uphold hygiene standards and create a safe environment for residents.
- Assist with mobility and transfers to prevent falls or injuries.
- Support wife with specialized needs, including dementia or memory care, by implementing personalized care plans and employing effective communication strategies.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams, social workers, and family members to ensure comprehensive support.
- Follow all safety protocols, including CPR and first- aid procedures, especially during emergencies or health crises such as home health situations.
- Uphold all regulations related to home & community care services, including HIPAA compliance and privacy standards.
Experience
Candidates should possess, education and prior experience in caregiving roles within assisted living facilities, nursing homes, group homes, or home health settings. Experience working with individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia is highly valued. Demonstrated proficiency in patient observation, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and the implemention of a care plan is essential. A background in long-term care or home & community-based services will strengthen your application. Certification in CPR and first aid is required; additional certifications like HIPAA training or nursing assistant credentials are advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills, patience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for providing compassionate senior or disability care.
