What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial and Residential Property Management Accountant position at Joyner Fine Properties?
Provide financial, administrative and clerical support for the Accounting and Property Management Department to include Vendor, Agent and Property Management accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide financial, administrative and clerical support to VP of Finance as needed. Provide administrative support to Property Management Team during busy periods. Provide backup to VP of Finance in her absence by calculating and processing agent commissions.
- Perform accounting and clerical duties related to the maintenance, receiving, coding, verifying and processing of accounts payable transactions and invoices for Joyner Fine Properties & the Property Management Division (Residential & Commercial). Scheduling and preparing checks, resolving invoice or payment discrepancies, ensuring credit is received for outstanding memos and/or overpayments. Reconcile vendor accounts monthly from statements.
- Property Management AP – 100 Portfolios, scanning, uploading and entering all invoices to owner portals for verification at month end by owners.
- Accounts Receivable – Joyner Fine Properties & Property Management
- Perform the collection of all monies due from vendors and tenants.
- Manage cash application of all Property Management incoming payments Residential & Commercial, making sure all cash receipts are applied timely and properly.
- Generate and send out invoices when required. Monitor and report past due and collection accounts. Research and resolve any payment discrepancies. Prepare, scan and upload bank deposits or take them to the bank as needed.
- Assist VP of Finance with Agent Advance Accounts that become past due – as needed with email reminders.
- Maintain all financial transactions associated with each Property Management Portfolio.
- Coordinate with Property Managers - tenant move-ins, move-outs and dispositions including damage payments to vendors or pass thru payments to owners followed by the preparation of security deposit refunds.
- Ensure proper coding and prepare and update all general ledger accounts in order to prepare monthly financial statements/owner statements in order to disburse owner payments monthly. Assist owners with statement interpretation or provide additional information/documentation when needed.
- Balance and reconcile bank accounts for Portfolios. Maintain and update tenant security account & spreads.
- Other duties may be assigned and required by Management.
Job Qualifications:
EDUCATION
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- College or business school courses preferred. Work experience may substitute for college.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Significant knowledge and experience in accounting with emphasis on real estate.
DESIRABLE TRAITS
- Strong bookkeeping and accounting background
- Strong proficiency in written and verbal communications
- Satisfactory computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Strong proficiency in Lone Wolf and Propertyware software
