PURPOSE    Joyful Noises Christian Preschool & Kindergarten is a ministry of Beach Bible Church. The Kindergarten Teacher will be a positive role model and share the truth of Christ with children. The kindergarten teacher will be to provide opportunities for academic growth and social development that allows children to build a solid foundation for their early education. They guide children as they develop social skills, motor skills, and academic competencies through a variety of planned activities in the classroom.     RESPONSIBILITIES

                     I.        Interactions and Relationships

·         Develop a responsive, accepting and consistent relationship with assigned students. ·         Teach the following subjects utilizing the designated curriculum guidelines adopted by the board: reading, language arts, social studies, science, math, art, music, physical education and chapel ·         Identify students’ needs and assess them appropriately using designated tools ·         Treat all children equally without regard to gender or cultural background. ·         Be responsive to each child with his/her own temperament and developmental level. ·         Establish and maintain standards of behavior needed to achieve a functional classroom ·         Utilize a variety of instructional materials and techniques to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student ·         Prepare and provide plans for substitute teacher when needed ·         Work cooperatively with others.  Remain a support to fellow JNP Teachers and Director.   2. Teaching and Ability To:   ·         Make decisions without immediate supervision ·         Maintain self-control at all times. ·         Communicate effectively both orally and in writing ·         Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others ·         Maintain records and prepare reports ·         Deliver oral presentations to families ·         Maintains safety standards and health regulations  

3. Classroom Environment

·         Prepare weekly lesson plans with activities and experiences that are developmentally appropriate and meet the California Learning Foundations Framework as well as California State Standards for Kindergarten ·         Maintain bulletin boards in a classroom with current lessons being taught ·         Keep individual records of each child’s progress throughout the school year. ·         Plan with and clarify expectations for any assistant who may be assigned to the class. ·         Follow policies and procedures for maintaining proper hygiene ·         Be responsible for classrooms, supplies, and equipment. Report items needing repair or replacement and submit requests for additional equipment to the director. ·         Cooperate with teachers who share the room, including Sunday morning teachers.     

4. Parent Relations

  ·         Communicate with parents at designated conference times in regards to child’s progress ·         Encourage parent involvement with Beach Bible Church and inform them of opportunities for participation. ·         Work with parents when children need extra support with new behaviors or academic concerns. ·         Prepare student progress reports/report cards on time with designated schedule ·           

5. Professional Standards

  ·         Abide by the Joyful Noises Preschool & Kindergarten/Beach Bible Church philosophy of child guidance and follow practices and procedures for dealing positively with young children. ·         Share ideas and materials freely with other teachers/assistants to continually improve the knowledge and abilities of all staff. ·         Must abide by all AB 506 and Child Abuse Prevention safety protocols. ·         Present a positive attitude in dealing with children and parents at all times.  Do not allow personal problems to interfere with the level of care you provide for the children. ·         Arrive at work at scheduled time. ·         Notify supervisor in advance if arriving late or unable to work.          

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  ·         PK-3 Early Education Specialist Instruction Credentials (Preschool-3^rd Grade) OR: A Bachelor’s Degree in Education with college courses in child development, early child education or elementary education is preferred. ·         Prior experience working in a TK-3^rd grade classroom  

QUALIFICATIONS

·         Must be a known Christian who personally knows and supports Beach Bible Church’s articles of faith. ·         Have a sincere desire to serve Christ. ·         Ability to relate to and communicate with children and their parents. ·         Knowledge of child developmental stages relevant to age taught. ·         Knowledge of child abuse reporting regulations. ·         Knowledge of current CPR and first aid procedures. ·         Must be spiritually, emotionally and intellectually mature.  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The Kindergarten Teacher must be able to:   ·         Lift 50 pounds ·         Must have the ability to move fast, squat, bend and stand for long periods of time. ·         Setup and breakdown classrooms as needed.
