Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, and other special needs. Your primary focus will be to enhance the quality of life for our clients by assisting them in daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring their overall well-being in various settings such as group homes and nursing facilities.
Duties
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Provide patient observation to monitor clients' physical and emotional well-being.
- Support individuals with developmental disabilities and autism in social interactions and community engagement.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs.
- Facilitate recreational activities that promote social skills and physical health.
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to health and safety protocols.
- Lift and assist clients as necessary while ensuring their comfort and dignity.
- Document client progress and report any changes in behavior or health status to the appropriate personnel.
Qualifications
- Experience in senior care or long-term care settings is preferred.
- Previous work with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of dementia care practices is a plus.
- Strong observational skills to ensure patient safety and well-being.
- Ability to lift clients safely while following proper techniques.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- A compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
