Job Summary
The Early Childhood Head Teacher at Joyful Beginnings is a compassionate, skilled, and faith-rooted educator who provides loving care and intentional instruction to young children during their most formative years. Whether nurturing infants, guiding toddlers, or preparing preschoolers for their next big steps, the head teacher creates a joyful, Christ-centered classroom where every child feels safe, known, and deeply loved.
This role blends caregiving, teaching, and spiritual formation – helping children grow in body, mind, and spirit. The head teacher partners with assistant teachers, families, and center leadership to ensure each child’s developmental needs are met with excellence, grace, and intentionality.
DUTIES
Classroom Leadership & Childcare
- Provide nurturing, developmentally appropriate care and learning experiences for children ages 6 weeks to pre-k.
- Design and implement engaging, play-based activities that support cognitive, physical, social-emotional, and spiritual growth.
- Foster predictable routines that help children feel secure, valued, and ready to learn.
- Observe, document, and assess children’s progress to guide individualized support.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and peaceful classroom environment aligned with licensing standards and center values.
Team Collaboration
- Lead and mentor assistant teachers, fostering a culture of teamwork, respect, and shared mission.
- Model best practice in early childhood education, classroom management, and faith integration.
- Participate actively in staff meetings, training, and center-wide events.
Family Communication & Partnership
- Build strong, trusting relationships with families through consistent, caring communication.
- Use the Procare app to share real-time updates on meals, rest, learning activities, and special moments.
- Partner with parents to support developmental milestones, classroom transitions, and faith formation at home.
Faith Integration
- Model Christ-like love, patience, and compassion in all interactions.
- Incorporate age-appropriate spiritual rhythms such as prayer, songs, Bible stories, and blessings.
- Create a classroom culture that celebrates each child as uniquely created and deeply loved by God.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Alignment with the mission and values of a Christian-based early childhood development center
- CDA or Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
- Prior experience working with children in a licensed childcare setting
- Deep understanding of early childhood development, safety, nurturing caregiving, and play-based learning practices
- Strong understanding of early childhood development, safety, and play-based learning practices.
- Warm, patient, and energetic demeanor with strong communication and leadership skills.
- CPR/First-Aid certified (or a willingness to obtain).
- Familiarity with classroom technology, such as the Procare app.
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40.0 per week
