The Assistant Department Lead role is an opportunity to take on a leadership role in addition to your primary role. Assistant Department Lead positions will be opened to qualified applicants every five years.

Assistant Department Leads are expected to meet or exceed all expectations of their primary role while serving as a team motivator, communicator, and uniter. Assistant Department Leads set the professional standard by example and provide the supervision and support necessary for their team members to be successful. Assistant Department Leads motivate their team to do great work, clearly and consistently communicate expectations, uphold Joya’s cultural norms, and unite their team with a shared sense of purpose to achieve Joya’s Mission & Vision while displaying and promoting Joya’s values of Compassion, Hope, Inclusion, Learning & Dedication.

The pay differential for Assistant Department Lead duties will be determined annually through the budget process and communicated before the beginning of Joya’s fiscal year, July 1st.

Supervisory Responsibility:

·         Participate in weekly Lead meeting to address expectations, program quality.

·         Approve weekly timecards prior to the payroll process; assist in tracking down any missing time or miscoded time.

·         Assist Lead with authorizing leave requests according to policy and ensure accurate coverage for the program.

·         Assist Lead with approving mileage reimbursements via the timekeeping/payroll system. Periodically audit mileage to ensure accuracy of mileage tracking.

·         Assist Lead with monitoring department schedules and caseloads for efficiency, resource allocation and contractual limits as needed and appropriate.

·         Assist Lead in completing employee semi-annual performance reviews for each team member in your department.

·         Understanding of and ability to resolve conflict.

·         Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

·         Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Education, Certifications and Experience Requirements:

·         Demonstrated excellence across all skills and responsibilities of primary role.

·         Experience providing early support for infants/toddlers with developmental delays, and their families.
