Farmers Market Assistant

Job Summary

Joy Time Kitchen is a growing food business serving communities across Northern Virginia through Farmers Markets, catering, and special events.

We are looking for a reliable Farmers Market Assistant to join our team. This position supports our Farmers Market operations by helping set up the booth, preparing customer orders, providing friendly customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized work area.

This is a part-time position. We are looking for someone who is dependable, works efficiently, enjoys working with people, and is interested in growing with our company over the long term.

Training will be provided for the right candidate who demonstrates a strong work ethic, reliability, and a willingness to learn.

We value reliability, teamwork, and a positive attitude more than previous experience.

Responsibilities

• Set up and take down the Farmers Market booth and equipment
• Prepare and package customer orders accurately
• Provide friendly and professional customer service
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient booth
• Follow food safety and sanitation standards
• Follow company procedures consistently

Schedule

• Tuesdays: Arlington Farmers Market (approximately 8:00 AM–2:30 PM)
• Saturdays: Ashburn Farmers Market (approximately 8:00 AM–1:30 PM)
• Applicants may work one or both market days based on availability

Work Locations

• Arlington Farmers Market (Tuesdays)
• Ashburn Farmers Market (Saturdays)

Additional Work Opportunities

Employees who are interested may have opportunities to assist with food preparation in our commercial kitchen for additional hours.

This provides an opportunity to gain additional experience and work more hours.

These opportunities are optional and depend on business needs and employee availability.

Requirements

• Authorized to work in the United States
• Reliable and punctual
• Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
• Able to stand for extended periods
• Able to lift and carry up to 30-40 lbs (e.g., tables, coolers, product boxes)

Preferred Qualifications

• Customer service experience is a plus
• Previous food service or Farmers Market experience is preferred, but not required
• Ability to learn quickly and follow instructions
