Duties
- Prepare a variety of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese-inspired dishes with precision and artistry
- Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene in all food preparation areas
- Develop new sushi recipes and presentation techniques to keep menu offerings fresh and exciting
- Manage ingredient inventory, ensuring freshness and proper storage of seafood and other perishables
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely service and consistent quality
- Educate team members on sushi techniques, presentation styles, and culinary trends
- Uphold restaurant policies on sanitation, safety, and food handling procedures at all times
Experience
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or similar culinary role specializing in Japanese cuisine
- Extensive knowledge of sushi ingredients, knife skills, and traditional preparation methods
- Experience in curriculum development or training others in culinary techniques is a plus
- Strong classroom management skills for mentoring junior staff or conducting culinary workshops
- Background working with children or adults in educational or community settings is advantageous
- Familiarity with culinary arts including photography, ballet, theater, or dancing can enhance presentation skills
- Prior experience in early childhood education or preschool environments is beneficial for team collaboration and communication
