Preschool Special Education Teacher Aide
Location: Syracuse, NY (On-Site)
Schedule: Monday - Friday, Day Shift
Job Type: Part-time, non-exempt (22 hours per week)
Compensation: $17.85/hr

Position Summary
As a Teacher Aide, you will support classroom staff in creating a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in early childhood education, special education, or working with children of all abilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the supervision and daily care of children in the classroom, all play areas, and during transitions, ensuring safety at all times
- Support implementation of daily routines and classroom schedules, including arrival, meals/snacks, small and large group activities, and dismissal
- Foster positive and nurturing relationships with all children, providing responsive interaction and guidance throughout the day
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of materials and classroom environments
- Support the implementation of individual student goals and accommodations under the direction of the Lead Teacher and therapy team
- Observe and document student behaviors, interactions, and progress, sharing relevant information with classroom staff
- Participate actively in classroom planning sessions, team meetings, and professional development opportunities
- Communicate respectfully and effectively with families and colleagues
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and classroom matters
- Model and promote inclusive practices and equity within the classroom and broader school community
- Assist with classroom hygiene tasks (e.g., handwashing routines, cleaning toys and surfaces, toileting assistance as needed)
- Respond calmly and promptly in emergency or crisis situations following school procedures
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher or supervisor
Qualifications
- High school diploma (required)
- Experience with young children and/or children with diverse abilities (required)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Sensitivity to individual needs and diverse backgrounds
- Commitment to confidentiality and respectful practice
