We provide emergency and permanent housing options and other community-based services that create opportunities for long-term stability and self-sufficiency.
Jovenes’ College Success Initiative (CSI) supports college students experiencing homelessness across campuses in Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties. We work in partnership with CSU & community colleges to ensure students can access stable housing while pursuing their education.
Position Summary
The CSI Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing day-to-day program operations and supervising front-line service staff within the College Success Initiative. This position provides direct case management for a caseload of college students while ensuring high-quality service delivery, compliance, and collaboration with campus partners.
Program Coordinators are assigned to specific colleges or partnerships, and Jovenes is hiring a position to work with Antelope Valley College. Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as is the ability to work remotely. This role includes both administrative and direct service functions and requires occasional physical tasks, such as lifting/moving supplies and cleaning student housing units.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Student Services & Case Management
- Conduct outreach and intake for referred students from college campuses
- Complete assessments and develop individualized Housing Service Plans (HSP), updated monthly
- Provide case management, crisis intervention, and referrals to internal and external resources (e.g., mental health, substance use, academic, legal, career)
- Monitor and support students in developing transportation, financial, and housing sustainability plans
- Assist students in locating and securing temporary or permanent housing
- Support housing navigation and oversee program housing units, including student move-ins/outs
- Perform physical tasks including lifting/moving up to 20 lbs, transporting student belongings, and deep cleaning of temporary housing units
- Maintain up-to-date files and enter data into case management systems in a timely and accurate manner
Program Oversight & Staff Supervision
- Supervise assigned program staff and oversee scheduling, delegation, and accountability
- Provide staff training and support professional development plans
- Monitor service quality, data entry, and documentation compliance
- Track and reconcile program-related expenses in accordance with agency procedures
- Implement programmatic adjustments as needed due to changes in budget, staffing, or contract requirements
- Respond to client and staff crises and develop appropriate intervention plans
- Absorb additional duties during staff absences, as assigned
- Collaborate with agency leadership to evaluate program performance and identify areas for growth
Campus & Community Coordination
- Coordinate regularly with assigned campus partners to ensure seamless service delivery
- Represent the agency at campus meetings, resource fairs, or presentations as needed
- Cultivate relationships with community-based organizations that support students’ academic and housing goals
- Identify and respond to service gaps or emerging needs through collaborative problem-solving

Physical and Practical Requirements
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 20 lbs, moving furniture, and cleaning temporary housing units
- Must possess a valid CA driver’s license, current auto insurance, and reliable transportation for work-related travel
- Must be able to work in-person across multiple campus and community sites
Work Conditions & Expectations
- Regular travel to assigned campuses, student housing locations, and Jovenes offices is required; mileage reimbursement is provided
- Program Coordinators may be reassigned to different campuses or programs as needed
- Program Coordinators may be assigned additional duties and responsibilities according to program and student needs
- Some evening or weekend availability may be required based on student and program needs
- Must uphold Jovenes’ code of conduct and maintain ethical and professional standards
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, psychology, or related field
- 2–3 years of direct case management or social services experience
- 1–2 years of staff supervision experience preferred
- Experience working with transitional age youth, students, or individuals experiencing homelessness
- Bilingual (English/Spanish or other languages) preferred
