Duties
- Manage patient appointments, scheduling, and rescheduling using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Availity, TherapyNotes and NM Medicaid Portal.
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and Medicaid, performing insurance verification and authorization processes.
- Assist patients with intake procedures, including collecting medical history, updating records, and explaining clinic policies.
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, practicing excellent phone etiquette and providing clear communication for appointment confirmations or inquiries.
- Review medical documentation for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and proper coding standards such as CPT coding.
- Support medical billing processes by coding procedures correctly and submitting claims efficiently to facilitate timely reimbursement.
- Maintain organized medical records, files, and documentation review to uphold health information management standards.
- Provide front desk support by greeting patients warmly, managing check-in/check-out processes, and coordinating clinic flow seamlessly.
- Utilize computer skills including Mac iOS for documentation, correspondence, and data entry tasks.
- Assist with office management duties such as filing, data entry, and supporting daily administrative operations within the clinic environment.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical office administration or healthcare settings; clinic or dental office experience highly preferred.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Dentrix or Eaglesoft is essential.
- Ability to verify insurance benefits accurately and handle Medicare or Medicaid documentation requirements.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and record keeping.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations.
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills including Mac iOS applications and familiarity with health information management systems like Availity and TherapyNotes.
- Exceptional customer service skills coupled with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities.
- Experience working with multi-line phone systems and front desk operations preferred.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
