What are the responsibilities and job description for the URGENT: STEM Instructor Needed ASAP (After-School, Mon–Fri) position at Journey to STEAM?
Classes are in Lake Oswego, Beaverton/NW Portland, and Happy Valley.
Journey to STEAM – Portland Metro Area
Compensation: $60 per after-school class
Part-time independent contractor position
Start date: Immediately
Journey to STEAM brings hands-on STEM learning to elementary schools through LEGO engineering, robotics, and beginner coding.
We have an urgent opening for an instructor to take over an established 5-day weekly schedule for the remainder of the fall term. Classes are already running, so we are looking for someone who can start right away and commit to every scheduled class through the end of the term. We prioritize instructors who are interested in returning for multiple terms and, ideally, remaining with us throughout the school year.
Throughout the term, there may be additional opportunities to substitute in other classes, teach school-break camps, and fill additional paid roles for Journey to STEAM.
Open Schedule (all 5 classes)
- Monday: Forest Hills Elementary, Lake Oswego, 2:45–3:45 p.m. (LEGO Architects)
- Tuesday: Westridge Elementary, Lake Oswego, 2:45–3:45 p.m. (LEGO Architects)
- Wednesday: Bonny Slope Elementary, Beaverton/NW Portland, 3:05–4:05 p.m. (LEGO Robotics)
- Thursday: Hallinan Elementary, Lake Oswego, 2:05–3:05 p.m. (Robotics)
- Friday: Mount Scott Elementary, Happy Valley, 2:05–3:05 p.m. (LEGO Architects)
Instructors must arrive at least 15 minutes before each class. Classes meet weekly for the full term, except holidays and teacher grading days. Candidates who can cover all five days are strongly preferred; candidates who can reliably cover three or more of these days may be considered.
