Role Description
This is a part-time, on-site role based in Michigan City, IN. The Education Paraprofessional will support teachers and students by assisting with daily classroom activities, providing one-on-one or small group support, and implementing individualized education plans. They will foster a positive and nurturing learning environment, facilitate social-emotional development, and help students meet their educational goals.
Responsibilities
● Assist teachers in implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
● Provide support in special education and general education classroom settings
● Offer academic, behavioral, and physical assistance to students as needed
● Aid with mobility support, vocational tasks, and therapy-related exercises
● Support hygiene, personal care needs of students and toileting (as applicable)
● Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information
● Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment
● Monitor student progress and communicate observations to the teacher
● Collaborate as part of the instructional support team
● Attend professional development and in-service trainings as assigned
● Follow directives from teachers and administrators consistently and professionally
● Communicate concerns or needs promptly to appropriate staff
● Arrive on time and maintain consistent attendance
Qualifications
● High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
● 60 college credit hours or passing score on the ParaPro Assessment
● Experience working with children in an educational setting preferred
● Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
● Willingness to complete CPI training
● Ability to support hygiene needs
