Microbiologist I

Job Title: Microbiologist I
Location: Piscataway, NJ
Hours / Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Onsite
Type: Contract To Hire
Compensation: Up to $75,000

Responsibilities

• Perform environmental monitoring (EM) in aseptic manufacturing areas, including air, surface, and gowning sampling
• Collect, incubate, and trend viable and non-viable samples
• Conduct water testing (WFI, RO, purified water) and compressed gas monitoring
• Perform bacterial endotoxin testing, bioburden, microbial limits, gram staining, and growth promotion tests
• Submit samples for identification and testing to internal or external laboratories
• Assist with autoclave operation and maintain basic lab sanitation
• Enter data into Excel for trending and compliance documentation
• Support general lab operations and assist in audit preparations
• Travel locally between Piscataway and South Plainfield locations as needed (once trained, approximately once per week)

Requirements

• 0–2 years of hands-on microbiology lab experience in pharmaceutical or cosmetic settings 
• Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, or related scientific field
• Familiarity with aseptic technique and GMP/GLP concepts
• Basic knowledge of environmental monitoring (EM), bioburden, and water testing
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Ability to work onsite and travel locally between sites
• Flexibility to work occasional extended hours, weekends, or holidays during audits or validations
