Overview
Global food manufacturer looking to hire experienced Lab Technician to join their growing team. Must bring a BS Degree in Microbiology or Food Science and 1-3 years of experience in food testing.
Responsibilities
- Test, analyze, and report accurate and timely results in a fast-paced gluten lab using wet chemistry and high-tech instrumentation.
- Organize workload and prioritize samples to maximize output and meet deadlines.
- Execute all laboratory methods as written and interpret data accurately.
- Deliver results by the specified due date, including manual calculations, peer review, and final report writing.
- Comply with quality requirements, address quality control issues, and perform routine instrument maintenance.
- Maintain a safe work environment, adhering to safety rules.
- Support cross-functional activities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist in projects and studies supporting business units as needed.
- Support evaluation of new test methods and develop lab procedures.
- Participate actively in customer and accreditation audits.
- Implement and participate in team training and cross-training plans.
- Perform other responsibilities as required by the business.
Requirements
- Degree in microbiology, food science, biology, chemistry, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred).
- 1-3 years' experience in food testing.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and flexibility based on workload.
- Proficient in basic laboratory skills: weighing, pipetting, solution prep, and evaluation of results.
- Extensive experience with lab equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Confidence in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Computer proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, or ability to quickly learn these applications.
- Demonstrated flexibility, agility, and team-oriented mindset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new applications.
- Willingness to flex work schedule when needed, including possible longer shifts or weekends.
- Strong technical background and high energy level with interpersonal skills.
- Experience working in an ISO 17025 accredited lab is preferred.
- Experience with LabWare LIMS is a plus.
