Coatings Engineer

Job Title: Coatings Engineer


Location: Somerset, NJ


Type: Contract To Hire


Compensation: $36 - $47 hourly


Contractor Work Model: Onsite


Hours:  8 AM- 5 PM M-F 

Responsibilities:

• Engineer with a background in Paints & Coatings 
• Following SOPs to produce liquid coatings in various sizes to fulfill sample and commercial orders
• Preparing coated samples for customer evaluation using either Dip, Flow or Spray application
• Synthesizing and formulating functional coatings
• Testing coatings properties, e.g., adhesion, abrasion resistance, contact angle, delta haze, UV weatherability
• Interfacing with customers, including troubleshooting coating issues and collaborating with customers to guide innovative coating solutions
• Work with cutting-edge materials in exciting new applications

Requirements:

• Degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering (BS or MS)
• Industrial experience in Paints, Coatings or Specialty Chemicals
• Hands-on synthesis and formulation experience with industrial, decorative and functional coatings.
• Extensive practice on assessing rheological, wetting, dispersant, and adhesion properties of coating formulations.
• Broad knowledge of coating additives including wetting and dispersing agent, slipping agent, UV-absorber and stabilizer, adhesion promoter, rheology modifier, nanoparticle dispersions
