Library/Media Specialist Long Term Substitute Teacher

Title: Library Media Specialist Long Term Substitute Teacher Reports to: Principal Location: Haynes Elementary School Position Summary: The Library Media Specialist LTS will provide all students with an enriched library experience that aids in nurturing the love of learning. This position will work collaboratively with teachers and staff to ensure that the use of media and library resources is part of the instructional program and in alignment with the mission, goals and objectives of the school district. Key Duties & Responsibilities: •Oversee the day to day operations of the library; •Participate in the recruiting, hiring, training and supervising of library staff and volunteers; •Maintain a comprehensive and efficient system for cataloging all library materials and instructs teachers and students on use of the system; •Collaborate with classroom teachers as a partner in the instructional process; •Develop and maintain resources appropriate to the curriculum; •Establish procedures for selection, acquisition, and circulation of all library resources; •Collaborate with and co-plan with the literacy specialist working on curriculum related to literacy; •Evaluate, promote and use existing and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning; •Teach developmentally appropriate informational literacy skills to individual classrooms K – 5; •Promote the ethical use of information including cyber safety; •Collect and analyze data to improve instruction; •Promote a love of reading and lifelong learning; •Promote instructional technology to improve learning; •Foster a creative, flexible environment so that the school library is an essential part of the learning community; •Perform other related duties as assigned. Dates: 9/24/26 - TBD Per SPS Substitute Pay Guidelines: Long term substitute teacher for greater than 8 weeks (DESE certification required):$250.00/day Hiring is contingent upon a successful CORI and fingerprinting clearance. All finalists will be required to provide official transcripts.
