The Vice President (VP) of Sales and Marketing is a senior level position responsible for the strategic growth of the Foundation by driving earned revenue through ticket sales (single, subscription, and group) , sponsorships and ancillary revenue streams at Freeman Arts Pavilion, along with overseeing brand strategy, media strategy, patron development initiatives and brand awareness, visibility and brand reputation for Joshua M. Freeman Foundation.
This position reports directly to the Executive Director, while working collaboratively with other departments with an emphasis on Programming, Finance, and Development (Fundraising).
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Leads the Marketing team and sets clear and measurable individual revenue and audience development goals for each team member.
- Guides the strategic use of data analytics, consumer research, reporting, and CRM capabilities to generate audience insights that drive enhanced segmentation and tailored communications, measure campaign effectiveness, and support long-term audience development and retention.
- Provide leadership in the creation of visual assets that dynamically tell the story of the Foundation and Freeman Arts Pavilion, programming, programs, and membership fundraising campaigns.
- Directs the implementation of an integrated marketing strategy and sales plan to support subscription, single ticket, and group sales goals through traditional tactics as well as in contemporary channels of digital media, and direct response.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in creating and leading sponsorship opportunities to drive revenue for the organization, increase corporate partnerships, food and beverage partners and increase revenue through ancillary programs like box seats, upgrades, experiences, bundles, etc. Create strategies, tactics and targets for these additional revenue streams that are optimized by the organization and not shared or allocated with artists or 3rd party vendors.
- Create and lead sales and service training programs for the box office, food and beverage, etc. to upsell products and experiences and increase margins and patron satisfaction.
- Achieve financial goals by establishing objectives, developing budgets, controlling costs, and maximizing the use of assets. Ensure continual analysis to measure and improve.
- Oversee all expenditures of the annual marketing/communications and sales budget.
- Oversee departmental budgets and cost-effective allocation of resources aligned with performance and strategic priorities.
- Leads PR efforts to build brand awareness with artists, industry representatives, media and community to generate significant earned media coverage and goodwill.
- Oversee the operation of a website, email marketing program and all social media marketing efforts to position the brand and increase engagement and audience segmentation.
Requirements
- 8-10 years in sales/marketing, with at least 5 years in leadership, preferably within performing arts, theater, or live entertainment venue.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field (master’s preferred).
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding multi-million-dollar annual revenue and audience growth goals, including setting KPIs and optimizing pricing, yield, and inventory (e.g., dynamic pricing, premium offers, packages).Advanced experience with CRM and ticketing platforms (such as Tessitura, Audience View, Seat Geek, or similar) and marketing automation tools to support segmentation, sales funnels, and lifecycle campaigns.
- Experience overseeing brand strategy and reputation management, including media relations, crisis communication alignment, and ensuring consistent brand voice across all channels and touchpoints.
- Strong data literacy and experience using analytics dashboards and reporting tools (Google Analytics, BI platforms, CRM reports) to make evidence-based decisions and continuously optimize campaigns and offers.Excellent interpersonal skills to work with cross-functional teams, senior leadership, and stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in performing arts is preferred.
- Experience with Spektrix or other ticketing software is highly desirable.
