ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Landscape Design & Sales Representative is responsible for guiding high-end residential clients from the initial consultation through project completion. This is a hands-on design-build sales role that combines client consultation, landscape and hardscape design, estimating, proposal development, project coordination, and relationship management. You will help clients envision and invest in outdoor spaces that include patios, walls, pergolas, decking, planting, lighting, grading, drainage, and other outdoor living features.

The right person understands both the creative and practical sides of landscape construction. You should be comfortable meeting with homeowners, developing a project concept, preparing an accurate estimate, protecting project margins, and then working closely with production to make sure what was sold is delivered to the expected quality and timeline.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meet with residential clients to understand their needs, wants, budget, and vision for outdoor living and landscape projects.
  • Develop project concepts and prepare budgets, estimates, quotes, and proposals that meet established margins and annual sales goals.
  • Create concept sketches and design notes that clearly communicate the proposed project to the drafting/design team.
  • Specify appropriate materials and subcontractors for each project.
  • Manage leads provided through marketing efforts and develop additional business through networking and relationship building.
  • Work closely with project managers, crew leads, subcontractors, vendors, and finance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare and hand off complete job information to the production team to support efficient, accurate execution.
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings and coordinate with the project manager, customer, and team lead before work begins.
  • Communicate with clients throughout estimating, construction, and project completion.
  • Conduct final client walkthroughs to confirm the completed project meets expectations.
  • Collect client deposits and final payments as required.
  • Use Aspire to estimate and track projects and Odoo to manage CRM activity and document design concepts and notes.
  • Attend sales, production, staff, and weekly one-on-one meetings.
  • Work toward an annual sales goal of approximately $750,000 - $1 million.
  • Monitor performance through close rate, estimation accuracy, job efficiency/on-time delivery, and customer satisfaction.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years of experience designing, estimating, selling, and/or executing residential landscape or outdoor living projects.
  • Experience with patios, walls, hardscape construction, planting, lighting, grading, drainage, and other residential landscape components.
  • Experience working with higher-end residential clients on medium to large-scale projects, including projects ranging from several days to several months in duration.
  • Working knowledge of local codes and permitting requirements relevant to landscape and hardscape construction.
  • Strong understanding of how outdoor spaces are actually built. Field experience with a landscape contractor is highly preferred.
  • Ability to sketch a clear concept design and communicate design intent to a draftsman or design team.
  • Experience using estimating software; experience with Aspire is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a genuine passion for landscape and hardscape design.
  • Self-starter who can manage multiple projects, deadlines, client relationships, and sales opportunities independently.
  • Ability to build trust with high-end residential clients and confidently guide them through a consultative sales process.
  • Degree or coursework in horticulture, landscape design, landscape architecture, or a related field preferred.
  • Certified Nursery Landscape Professional and/or CMHA certification preferred, but not required.
  • Must be comfortable traveling locally each day for client meetings, vendors, subcontractors, and municipal offices.
