Tenant Support Staff
Joseph's House & Shelter – Albany, NY
Joseph's House & Shelter is seeking a compassionate and dependable Tenant Support Staff member to join our team. This position provides support to tenants living in our permanent supportive housing program, many of whom are living with mental health and/or substance use disorders. Staff are expected to provide services using a Housing First and Harm Reduction approach, treating every tenant with dignity, respect, and compassion.
Responsibilities
- Provide a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment for tenants.
- Monitor program operations during evening and weekend shifts.
- Assist with daily program responsibilities, including light housekeeping and meal preparation.
- Maintain accurate shift logs and complete required documentation.
- Respond appropriately to tenant needs while following agency policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with coworkers and supervisors to ensure quality services.
- Attend staff meetings and supervision as scheduled.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, mental illness, or substance use disorders is preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to providing non-judgmental, person-centered support.
- Ability to use Microsoft Word and Google email
Schedule
- Part-Time
- Evening Shift: 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM - Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
