What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary Physical Education Teacher - LTS position at Joseph Osgood School?
Long-Term Substitute position available immediately through an anticipated return date of May 5, 2026.
Responsible for teaching students in grades PK-2 how to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle, and why it’s important to engage in physical fitness. Responsibilities include planning, implementation, and assessment of physical education curriculum based on state and federal standards, data analysis of individual and aggregate student progress, and the planning and supervision of PE related enrichment activities.
Duties include:
•Knowledge of content and pedagogy for an engaging, effective, developmentally sound Physical Education program for elementary students;
•Ability to develop and implement units and lessons of instruction with measurable outcomes and challenging tasks in the areas of dance, gymnastics, games, and fitness;
•Ability to design and analyze results from a variety of assessment tools to determine progress towards outcomes and use these findings to adjust instruction and implement principles and strategies of UDL;
•Use appropriate practices, including tiered instruction and scaffolds, to accommodate differences in learning styles, needs, interests, and levels of readiness;
•Develop students’ interpersonal, group, and communication skills and provide opportunities for students to learn in groups of diverse peers;
•Consistently enforce school-wide and classroom expectations
•Clearly communicate and consistently enforce specific standards for student work, effort, and behavior and update parents throughout the year;
•Consistently use strategies and practices that are likely to enable students to demonstrate respect for and affirm their own and others’ differences in promoting equity and diversity.
