What are the responsibilities and job description for the Agricultural Equipment Operator position at Joseph K Boddiford, Jr.?
We farm 2300 acres of corn, cotton, and peanuts. We need seasonal employees to assist with all aspects of growing these crops including planting, spreading, spraying, and harvesting and hauling. We begin the year with servicing all the equipment and collecting soil samples. Once we receive the soil sample reports back, we begin to spread fertilizer and lime while prepping the land for planting. During early spring, we plant corn, cotton, and peanuts while maintaining the irrigation systems. During the summer, we continue to spray chemicals, spread fertilizer on the crops, and mow and maintain field roads. In August, we harvest corn where we have a facility capable of drying and storing our own grain. In early September, we clean and store all corn harvest equipment before starting cotton and peanut harvest. In mid- to late September, we get all the cotton and peanut equipment checked over and ready for harvest. The remaining part of the year will be spent harvesting cotton and peanuts. Once that is complete, the equipment used is then cleaned and stored. Employees will need to complete routine repairs and maintenance on equipment. During the winter months at beginning and end of contract there will be improvements made to shelters, Grain storage, Irrigation systems and pumps, and roads around the farm.
