Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will support the clinical team by providing exceptional chairside assistance, ensuring infection control, and maintaining accurate dental records. The Dental Assistant will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care across general dentistry procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during various procedures such as restorations, extractions, endodontics, ortho, and pediatric dentistry treatments
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control standards are maintained
- Operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners while adhering to HIPAA regulations
- Manage dental records using EMR systems such as Soft dent, Dentrix, or Epic; ensure accurate documentation of procedures and patient information
- Provide chairside assistance with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort
- Educate patients on post-treatment care
- Assist with dental documentation and maintaining compliance with HIPAA standards
- Support the dental reception team by managing appointment and patient communication when needed
- Ensure all clinical areas are clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies
Skills
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques
- Experience with X-ray procedures and operation of digital imaging equipment including 3D scanners
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently in general dentistry as well as specialized fields like prosthodontics and endodontics
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality
- Experience working with pediatric patients is a plus; familiarity with pediatric dentistry procedures preferred not required
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively about oral health care
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced environment
