Job Overview
Joseph’s House is responsible for providing a hospitable environment for homeless people who need a safe and warm place to stay overnight.
The ideal greeter is hospitable, non-judgmental, compassionate, and energetic and has experience dealing with persons with severe mental illness.
Reports to: Deputy Director
General Responsibilities
· Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable drop in environment for roster guests and the broader homeless community.
· Engage, interact, and work towards fostering a trusting relationship with the guests of Joseph’s House.
· Assist with the initial assessment of the guests entering Joseph’s House to ensure they are functioning at a level that does not endanger themselves or others.
· Develop and maintain positive relationships with volunteers
· Ensure the safety of staff and guests through implementation and monitoring of safety procedures.
· Assist with the initial assessment of the guests entering Joseph’s House to ensure they are functioning at a level that does not endanger themselves or others
· Monitor and screen guest entrance and exit from the building.
· Assist with emergency situations as needed.
· Secure the building by monitoring the location and activity of guests.
· Lead activities that foster relationship building with guests.
· Interact with service providers and volunteers to build collateral relationships.
· Enforce program policies and procedures.
· Perform the kitchen, common area, office, HUB and bathroom clean-up.
· Assist with the preparation and serving of food and beverages.
· Notify the Manager of any problems/concerns/issues with guests, grounds or facility.
· Perform general housekeeping chores. Including emptying all trash and assuring that all areas have been swept and mopped.

Skill / Educational Requirements
· High School Diploma and/or equivalent experience
· Strong interpersonal and organizational communication skills
· Team oriented disposition
· Current CPR/First Aid Certification
