Duties
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of dental procedures, including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and implant dentistry, as well as sleep-disordered breathing treatments.
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment following strict infection prevention management protocols.
- Take digital medical imaging and X-rays using advanced equipment such as 3D scanners, digital radiography and CBCT imaging
- Manage patient records accurately using electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Dentrix while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Monitor vital signs and provide patient care before, during, and after treatments to ensure comfort and safety.
- Support patient management by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and assisting with patient education on oral health practices.
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment by following infection control standards and aseptic techniques aligned with healthcare infection prevention policies.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic setting with knowledge of general dentistry procedures.
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, dental sterilization procedures, and infection prevention management.
- Familiarity with dental software such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for medical documentation and records management.
- Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other clinical tools with precision.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
- Certification in Dental Assisting or related field is preferred; X-ray certification is required.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages—including pediatrics—and team members like dental receptionists.
- Commitment to maintaining clinical confidentiality policies while adhering to infection control standards and aseptic techniques.
