Job Summary:

Joseph A. DeLuca Advisory & Consulting Services LLC (“DeLuca Advisory Services”) is looking for an Environmental Scientist to join its team in Philadelphia. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Environmental Scientist to join our team. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in environmental science, industrial hygiene or a related field and proficiency in relevant software tools. Experience/familiarity with environmental science, due diligence, building-related environmental hazards, regulatory compliance, and the construction industry is a strong plus.

As trusted advisors, DeLuca Advisory Services uses auditing, investigations, data and operational analysis to help solve our clients’ most complex problems. DeLuca Advisory Services is a boutique consulting firm that currently has just over 25 full-time staff. Since its founding in 2019, the firm has experienced steady growth in clients, revenue and staff. Most of DeLuca Advisory Services’ work is with public sector agencies and many of DeLuca Advisory Services’ staff have experience in working in the public sector. In addition to the work being done in Philadelphia, DeLuca Advisory Services also has led other compliance engagements, acted as an independent monitor of government contractors and performed investigations and forensic audits. DeLuca Advisory Services’ leaders are an experienced group of professionals that have frequently worked with one another throughout their careers.

Responsibilities:

· Demonstrate experience in preparing comprehensive technical reports and abatement specifications.

· Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations (e.g., AHERA, NESHAP, OSHA, HUD, PADEP, AMS).

· Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and work within budgets.

· Strong client interaction skills and ability to develop and maintain professional relationships.

· Must possess a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record.

· Willingness to travel locally and regionally as needed.

· Perform site inspections, document findings, and collect relevant evidence.

· Analyze environmental data, test results, and historical records to develop conclusions.

· Prepare detailed reports based on findings.

· Provide recommendations for corrective actions or preventative measures.

· Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and meet client expectations.

· Communicate effectively with clients, legal teams, and other stakeholders.

· Ensure adherence to industry standards, best practices, and ethical guidelines in forensic investigations.

· Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities for new forensic engineering engagements.

Knowledge & Skills:

· Experience identifying potential issues or enhancement opportunities by reviewing information and making judgment calls about the completeness and accuracy of information.

· Stay current with advancements in regulatory compliance and management of environmental conditions.

· Maintain professional certifications and participate in relevant industry conferences or training.

· Strong attention to detail.

· Proven ability to work well within a team environment while accomplishing individual projects.

· Strong personal and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to prioritize and plan work activities and use time efficiently.

· Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner.

· Current Asbestos Inspector and/or Project Designer, Lead Risk Assessor and/or Inspector, Mold assessment certifications are highly desirable.

· Experience with the PADEP Act 2 program and hazardous waste management is highly desirable.

Professional Experience Required:

· Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, geology, industrial hygiene, or a related scientific field.

· 3-5 years of direct experience conducting environmental assessments for asbestos, lead, mold, and/or soil.

· Advanced analytical and issue resolution ability and problem solving is essential.

· Proficient with PC environments and related software, including all Microsoft Office applications and the Google Suite.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

· Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including hot, cold, damp, and dusty environments.

· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work at heights, and in various weather conditions.

Salary commensurate with experience. DeLuca offers a comprehensive benefits package. This includes health insurance coverage with employer paying portion of selected plan, vision and dental insurance coverage, unlimited paid time off (with manager’s approval), and opportunity to participate in 401k, Flexible Spending Account, Dependent Care Account and other programs offered through payroll provider. In addition to a base salary, this position is also eligible for annual performance-based bonuses. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
