Summary of Responsibilities

The Mental Health Technician plays an integral role at our Jory Behavioral Health Secure Residential Treatment Facility by working in a collaborative team environment to provide exceptional care for adults with severe and persistent mental illness. The Mental Health Technician will use their professional skills to assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, toileting, dressing, and transferring. Our Mental Health Technician goal is to ensure our patient’s needs are met, that all changes in psychiatric presentation are reported to the care team, and to provide and support interventions as needed to ensure the safety of staff and patients. This position is under the direction and supervision of the registered nurses and nurse managers. Patience, critical thinking, and the ability to communicate both written and verbally are imperative for this role. By using their knowledge, the Mental Health Technician will take into consideration the patient’s age, mental and behavioral health history, and cultural diversity to provide informed care effectively and respectfully. Our smaller 16 bed facility ensures that the Mental Health Technician can quickly connect with our patients, guarantee patient dignity, and make a positive lasting impression.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Two (2) years of as a direct care worker in an inpatient or outpatient Mental/ Behavioral Health facility highly preferred.
  • Obtain and maintain current BLS CPR.
  • Ability to confidently work with young adults, adult, and geriatric populations.
  • Ability to achieve a high level of cleanliness & safety throughout designated areas.
  • A license driver with an automobile that is in good working order to get to and from work in various weather conditions to ensure reliability.
