Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Fire Alarm Technician to inspect, test and service fire alarm systems, clean agent and CO2 systems, and other related equipment. This position is focused on testing fire alarm systems and generating inspection reports in accordance to NFPA 72, resolving and/or troubleshooting problems in a timely, to be available for pre-scheduled on-call or after-hour emergencies. Duties assigned will be performed in a timely manner to meet all company standards as well as any applicable Federal, State, or Local Codes while aligning self to the company’s mission statement and its core values.

The hourly pay range for this position is $20.00 - $45.00, depending on education, skills and previous experience. Please read the qualifications before applying for this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Inspection, testing and maintenance of fire alarm systems, including but not limited to:

· Perform visual and functional testing of fire alarm panels, devices and all applicable appliances in accordance to NFPA 70 and 72.

Coordinate servicing or repairs with direct supervisor

· Perform visual and functional testing of CO2 and clean agent suppression systems, devices and all applicable appliances in accordance to NFPA 12, 12A and 2001.

· Diagnose and repair alarm system problems, locate source cause(s) and identify resulting trouble conditions, and bring system to full operation and in line with Federal, State and Local Codes.

· Perform acceptance test(s) to verify correct function system-wide.

· Generate detailed inspection reports and noting any deficiencies observed during inspections.

· Interface fire alarm system or monitoring device with HVAC, sprinkler systems, access control units, and elevators.

· Perform installation, takeover, or retrofit including panels, wiring, phone lines, power supplies, initiation devices, and notification appliances per design.

· Determine appropriate action and communicate the current situation to the department manager or field supervisor including the source cause, resulting trouble conditions, recommended repairs, estimated timeframe for repairs, appropriate cost information and anticipated outcome.

· Complete and submit all paperwork and inspection reports to the office staff on a daily basis

Deliver outstanding customer service

· Resolve customer complaints.

· Ensure all customer contact is professional and courteous.

· Communicate job status, problems and/or changes to customers.

· Obtain approval for repairs, when necessary, per contract, proposal, or bid/agreement.

· Maintain company standards and ethics.

Fleet vehicle responsibilities

· Keep vehicle neat, clean and organized at all times.

· Perform routine inventory checks of tools, equipment, parts, devices and paperwork

.Coordinate servicing or repairs with direct supervisor

Ideal candidate should:

· Encourages a customer-focused attitude within the department and work with staff to resolve customer complaints, warranty issues, and problems with defective materials in a timely manner.

· Interacts with other technicians to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.

· Completes all required paper work such as reports, service orders, change orders, timesheets, etc. thoroughly and accurately.

· Meets department revenue goals.

· Attends all required company meetings.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

· Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.

· Excellent organizational and communication skills

· Self-motivated, dependable, and reliable.

· Comfortable working at heights and in various environmental conditions.

· Possess a California State Fire Life Safety Certification.

· Pass drug screening and clear background checks.

· A valid California driver's license and DMV record that is acceptable to our insurance company.

Desired but not required:

· NICET 2 certified

· OSHA10 certified

· Company provided service vehicle

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Must also be able to drive, sit, stand, walk, kneel, reach, climb stairs, and climb ladder, for extended periods of time while performing tasks. Also need to be able to work in various conditions, including wet, dry, and outdoor environments.
