Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, standards, and safety guidelines
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, slicers, stoves, ovens, and food processors
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and equipment to uphold food safety standards
- Assist with meal assembly, plating, and presentation to ensure appealing dishes
- Follow proper food handling procedures to prevent contamination and ensure freshness
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and delivery times
- Support menu planning efforts by providing input on ingredient needs and preparation techniques
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a dietary department or dietary aide role is highly desirable
- Food service or restaurant experience demonstrating knowledge of food preparation and safety standards
- Strong knife skills with proficiency in slicing techniques and portion control
- Knowledge of food safety management practices and adherence to safety standards in production environments
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently under pressure
- Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork within the kitchen staff
- Familiarity with catering services, meal prep, and serving processes is a plus
- Culinary experience that includes recipe adherence, food handling, and meal presentation skills
