The Instructional Assistant (Behavior Support Assistant, or BSA) is part of the Jordan Behavior Assistance Team (JBAT). Members of JBAT support the behavioral needs of students across Jordan District in PreK through post high school so they can access core content and engage in healthy social interactions in the least restrictive environment possible. The Behavior Support Assistants provides hands-on support to students throughout the school day, reinforcing positive behavior and implementing strategies under the direction of Behavior Specialists and Technicians.
Must complete Basic Training (5 hours) provided by JSD Special Education Department. Training must be completed within one week of hire as a condition of employment.
Additional 40 hours of training is available through the Special Education department allowing the employee to increase to lane 6 upon completion.
Training must be completed within six (6) months from hire date as a condition of employment.
