Retail Receiving Associate & Back-up Driver
We are seeking a friendly, diligent and customer service-oriented associate for a part-time (28 hours) position - Saturdays are required with additional availability on weekdays.
The Jonnycake Center of Westerly has over 7,000 sq. ft. of treasures to explore and thousands of items moving on and off the sales floor each day. The Thrift Store was created to help fund our Food Pantry and Community Resources Departments and provides a positive, respectful, and enjoyable work environment. Tasks will include receiving and sorting donations, moving and loading furniture, light housekeeping, assisting other employees, donors, volunteers, and customers, as well as serving as a back-up driver for furniture pick-up and delivery, as well as and food donation pick-ups.
Required:
- Saturday availability required with additional availability on weekends.
- Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance with a history of tenacious reliability
- Ability to follow directions and work independently within parameters of instructions/duties
- Ability to communicate with staff, donors, and customers in a professional and courteous manner
- Ability to lift heavy loads (50 pounds) repeatedly over the course of the day, at times carrying up and down stairs, and the ability to lift up to 100 pounds, with assistance, on occasion
- Ability to work outdoors in all conditions for short time periods
- Ability to work cooperatively with others as part of a team
- Ability to remain flexible and positive in a rapidly-changing environment
- Smart decision-making skills
- Ability to pass a background check, drug test, and a driver’s medical certification.
- 3 years driving experience with clean record
- High School Diploma, GED, or comparable life experience
