CDL Heavy Equipment Operator - Tree Removal Specialist

As we grow, we're seeking a skilled and adaptable Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team and support our Crew Leader in delivering exceptional results.
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator with a strong focus on safety and versatility. In this role, you will primarily operate a combination of chipper trucks, dump trucks, tractor trailers, and our New Holland 57C mini excavator. Responsibilities include safely loading, unloading, rigging, and securing equipment to trailers, as well as transporting machinery and debris. You will use advanced safety tools like 33i intercom-equipped helmets and contribute to a zero-injury worksite environment.
This is a full-time position with a starting salary of $75,000 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, paid vacation, and holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy equipment, including chipper trucks, dump trucks, tractor trailers, and mini excavators.
- Load and unload equipment from trailers, including proper rigging and securing loads.
- Haul freight, heavy equipment, and tree debris as needed.
- Perform daily equipment inspections, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
- Support the Crew Leader in daily operations, including job site setup, debris management, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
- Adapt quickly to changing job site conditions and priorities in a fast-paced startup environment.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Class A CDL in good standing.
- Clean 3-year driving record (no tickets or at-fault accidents).
- At least 12 months of experience operating heavy equipment.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating a New Holland 57C mini excavator (a significant plus).
- Prior experience driving tractor trailers hauling freight or heavy equipment.
- Continuing education and certifications demonstrating commitment to safety and professionalism, such as:
- OSHA classes
- TCIA (Tree Care Industry Association) certifications
- Other relevant safety or arborist certifications
- Quick-thinking, mentally agile, and highly adaptable—ideal for a growing startup company.
