What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager position at Jones Sign?
Job Summary:
A plant manager is responsible for the entire operations of a manufacturing plant. This includes the management and coordination of daily activities to ensure high performance and production at all times. Other duties include ensuring company policies and procedures are followed as well as assisting in the onboarding process of new hires and providing training and development materials to team members.
Duties and Expectations:
- Provide leadership to ensure effective utilization of plant personnel and equipment.
- Collaborate with functional departments in the implementation of improvements for the facility.
- Investigate and implement innovative manufacturing processes to reduce costs and improve product quality.
- Drive continuous improvement throughout the plant with visual management, problem solving, new product development launches, capital projects, control plans, quality plan, and continuous improvement plan
- Execute performance goals and long-term operational plans successfully.
- Set goals, monitor progress, and ensure accountability for direct reports
- Plan, monitor, and analyze key metrics for day-to-day operations to ensure efficient and timely completion of projects and targets.
- Develop direct reports and others by creating an environment that both develops and affords opportunities to employees, inspires collaboration, and engages the teams to contribute in meaningful ways.
- Build effective teams and create strong morale. Recognize wins and successes; fosters open dialogue; empowers others to be decision-makers; define measurable success for the whole team.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering preferred
- Minimum of 3-5 years of plant operations experience in various leadership roles
- Prior sign experience preferred.
- Strong coaching expertise and knowledge of leadership development
- Strong project management experience
- Experience in developing budgets and business plans
- Excellent communication skills.
