Position Summary
The Used Vehicle Inspection Technician is responsible for thoroughly inspecting pre-owned vehicles to identify mechanical, cosmetic, and safety-related issues. This role ensures that all incoming used inventory meets dealership, manufacturer, and state standards before being offered for sale. The technician documents findings, performs or recommends necessary repairs.
Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive multi-point inspections on all incoming used vehicles.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and safety-related issues.
Test drive vehicles to confirm drivability and identify additional concerns.
Recommend needed repairs, maintenance, or reconditioning work to bring vehicles to retail-ready condition.
Perform minor repairs and adjustments as assigned (fluids, filters, bulbs, wipers, etc.).
Verify that all safety systems (brakes, lights, tires, suspension, airbags, etc.) meet standards.
Check for cosmetic issues and note needed detailing or appearance repairs.
Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all safety protocols.
Stay updated on vehicle systems and diagnostic methods.
Automotive technician experience preferred—dealership or used-car reconditioning experience a plus. Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills. High attention to detail and ability to work independently or with a team.
