What are the responsibilities and job description for the Account Representative position at Jones Logistics?
Job Description:
- Manage an assigned territory within a large national customer account, maximizing available freight opportunities
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships through proactive, professional communication with customer branches and contacts
- Proactively identify profitable freight opportunities by monitoring the customer’s portal for available loads and lanes
- Quote and negotiate rates within the customer’s portal while maintaining company profitability
- Conduct outbound calls to individual customer locations to introduce Jones, establish relationships, and negotiate competitive rates
- Coordinate and manage shipments from load creation through delivery, ensuring accurate and timely execution
- Build and enter loads accurately in our transportation management system (TMS)
- Monitor assigned freight and proactively address service issues, rate changes, or other challenges throughout the shipment lifecycle
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date shipment, pricing, customer, and carrier information within company systems
- Develop a strong understanding of the customer’s network, including locations, freight patterns, lanes, and pricing opportunities

- Ability to manage multiple shipments, opportunities, and customer relationships while effectively prioritizing tasks
- Self-motivated, competitive, and results-driven with the ability to work independently
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and transportation management systems (TMS); experience working with customer transportation portals preferred
- Ability to learn and understand customer networks, freight patterns, lanes, and market pricing
- Prior experience in logistics, transportation, freight brokerage, sales, or customer service preferred, but not required
- High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
