What this job involves: The Operating Engineer is responsible for operations & maintenance of building systems and equipment as part of the Facility Maintenance & Operations Team. This role handles routine and emergency plant operations, requiring general knowledge of industry maintenance practices and the ability to work independently.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Inspect, troubleshoot, repair and adjust equipment to minimize service interruptions and downtime
Execute maintenance and repair work for boilers, HVAC equipment, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, and building infrastructure
Perform complex operating procedures for high pressure steam boilers, lab utilities, emergency generators, and fire pumps
Monitor water chemistry in various systems and make necessary adjustments
Maintain mechanical spaces for safety and housekeeping to be audit-ready
Respond to emergencies, identify problems, and take corrective actions
Review and complete work orders, logs, and documentation in the BMS CMMS
Ensure compliance with safety standards, OSHA regulations, and JLL policies
Work Schedule:
3x2 rotation: Alternating between day and night shifts every two weeks
Day shift: 7am - 7pm
Night shift: 7pm - 7am
12-hour rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays
Overtime is required
Desired or preferred experience and technical skills:
Working knowledge of building automation and system controls
Experience with HVAC/R systems and boilers
Proficient computer skills
Ability to provide guidance and mentoring to team members
Required Skills and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
Must possess a valid driver's license
Ability to work independently and plan work without direct supervision
Skills to operate electric hand tools, work on ladders, and lift heavy loads
Ability to operate required equipment and motor vehicles
Physical capability to perform maintenance tasks
