Duties
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities using accounting software such as QuickBooks.
- Record and reconcile journal entries, including debits and credits, to ensure accurate general ledger maintenance.
- Perform bank reconciliations and account analysis to verify the integrity of financial data.
- Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes efficiently, including invoice processing and payment scheduling.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliation regularly to ensure all assets, liabilities, and equity accounts are accurate and up-to-date.
- Prepare financial reports, including income statements, cash flow statements, and other management reports to support decision-making.
- Assist with payroll processing and related tax filings in compliance with governmental regulations.
- Support budgeting activities by tracking expenses against forecasts and providing insights for financial planning.
- Maintain detailed documentation of all transactions, journal entries, and account reconciliations for audit purposes.
- Collaborate with external auditors during audits by providing requested documentation and explanations of financial data.
- Stay current with relevant accounting standards such as GAAP and adapt bookkeeping practices accordingly.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles, preferably within corporate or non-profit environments.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, Sage, Xero, or equivalent platforms.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, debits & credits, and journal entries.
- Familiarity with governmental accounting standards and tax regulations is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks accurately under deadlines.
- Knowledge of financial concepts related to balance sheet reconciliation, bank reconciliation, accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing, and budgeting.
- Ability to perform 10 key typing efficiently for data entry tasks.
- Strong analytical skills for account analysis and general ledger reconciliation.
- Attention to detail combined with excellent communication skills for financial report writing and documentation purposes.
