Top Qualifications We’re Looking For
✔ Several years of experience troubleshooting Allen Bradley PLC control systems
✔ Strong hands-on troubleshooting and repair skills from software controls to 480V electrical systems
✔ Self-directed mindset with the desire to grow into a long-term leadership role supporting mill
operations
What You’ll Do
- Troubleshoot and program Allen Bradley PLC and HMI systems using Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk View
- Diagnose and repair industrial electrical systems from control power up to 480V 3-phase
- Support and optimize automated production equipment in a fast-paced sawmill environment
- Work directly on the production floor solving real-time issues; this is not a desk-only role
- Collaborate with maintenance, operations, vendors, and OEMs to minimize downtime
- Assist with continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
- Provide support during breakdowns, shutdowns, and critical production periods
Additional Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Industrial, Electrical, or Engineering Technologies
- OR 4 years of industrial automation/electrical experience
- Experience with industrial electrical controls and automation systems
- Knowledge of LOTO and industrial safety procedures
- Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills
Preferred
- Experience with VFDs, motion controls, and positioning systems
- Industrial networking knowledge (LAN, TCP/IP, etc.)
- Ability to read electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical schematics
- Experience in a sawmill, planer mill, or heavy industrial manufacturing environment
Work Schedule & Environment
This is a hands-on industrial role in a fast-paced sawmill environment requiring flexibility and commitment to keeping the mill operational.
- Typical schedule ranges from 48–50 hours/week
- Periodic higher-demand weeks may range from 55–60 hours
- The company is actively exploring more flexible scheduling approaches to improve long-term work-life balance while maintaining operational coverage
