Position Summary:

The Sommelier is an integral part of the Food & Beverage team, responsible for being present on the floor during service and engaging with Members and guests to promote and sell the Club’s wine and beverage offerings. This position requires a strong command of the Club’s wine list and a thorough knowledge of all alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages available. The Sommelier will lead by example on the floor, in banquets, and on the beach level by supporting and guiding service staff to ensure an exceptional Member experience. This is a knowledge-driven sales role that emphasizes hospitality, product expertise, and genuine member engagement.

The Sommelier Is Responsible For The Following

• Provide professional wine service during service in the dining room and banquet events.
• Conduct wine education and tastings for staff to promote engagement and enhance knowledge.
• Train and support service staff in wine knowledge, proper service techniques, and sales strategies.
• Monitor and uphold wine service standards in accordance with Club policies and best hospitality practices.
• Well-versed with the Jonathan Club’s beverage program including beer, spirits, and non-alcoholic selections.
• As part of the food and beverage management team, the sommelier will assist, when needed, in all areas of the operation in any capacity.
• Create sales incentives and promote to the staff.
• Partner with Surfside Grill on grab-n-go wines and beverage offerings
• Provide weekly updates on sales, opportunities on the wine list, and member feedback to the F&B team.
  
  

Qualifications

• Certified Sommelier or higher
• Minimum 3 years of wine service experience in fine dining or private club settings
• Strong communication, leadership, and member relations skills
• Passion for hospitality, guest engagement, and continuous learning
• Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
• Prolonged standing and walking during service hours
  
  

Salary Rate: $70,000/year
