Job Overview
Jomar Electrical Contractors is growing, and we are looking for an experienced Electrical Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate has strong commercial electrical estimating experience and can independently prepare complete electrical estimates, from reviewing plans and specifications through final bid submission.
This position is intended for a hands-on electrical estimator with experience pricing commercial electrical construction projects, performing detailed takeoffs, calculating labor and material costs, and preparing competitive bids.
Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and competitive electrical estimates for commercial construction projects.
- Review electrical blueprints, drawings, specifications, proposals, and scope of work.
- Perform detailed electrical material takeoffs and calculate labor hours, crew requirements, and material costs.
- Obtain and evaluate vendor and supplier pricing.
- Prepare complete electrical bid proposals and supporting documentation.
- Identify scope gaps, potential risks, and value-engineering opportunities.
- Coordinate with project managers, vendors, clients, and field teams to clarify project requirements.
- Maintain accurate estimating records, cost data, and bid documentation.
- Ensure estimates align with project specifications, applicable codes, and commercial electrical construction practices.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of hands-on commercial electrical estimating experience.
- Hands-on experience with both Accubid and Bluebeam is required.
- Ability to independently estimate the complete electrical scope of a commercial construction project, including:
- Power distribution, switchgear, panels, and feeders.
- Conduit, wire, and cable.
- Lighting, lighting controls, and transformers.
- Generators and equipment connections.
- Fire alarm and low-voltage systems.
- Grounding and site electrical work.
- Proven ability to perform electrical takeoffs and calculate labor hours, crew requirements, and material costs.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and commercial electrical construction practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and time-management skills.
- Experience estimating commercial electrical projects valued at $5 million or more is preferred.
Important: This is a hands-on electrical estimating position, not an electrical engineering or design position. Candidates must have direct experience preparing electrical estimates and bids.
