Job Overview
We are hiring a skilled Commercial Electrical Assistant Project Manager (APM) in Houston to grow with our company. The duties for this APM will include planning, coordinating, budgeting and supervising the electrical scope of construction projects from start to finish. This position will report to the Senior Project Manager.
Responsibilities
- Assume leadership for project success, ensuring project is built safely, on schedule, and within budget.
- Consult with clients as part of the design phase to help refine construction plans and control costs.
- Review and evaluate contractual scopes of work.
- Prepare project-related schedule of values.
- Select subcontractors and schedule and coordinate their activities.
- Monitor/control construction through administrative direction of project.
- Ensure appropriate resources are available to meet the project schedule.
- Lead various project-related meetings such as kickoffs, progress reviews and final close-out.
- Identify potential schedule impacts including scope, weather and manpower and facilitate mitigation plans for these impacts. Respond to work delays, emergencies, and other project-related problems.
- Provide appropriate written documentation for decisions affecting various aspects of the project such as budget, schedule, legal, quality and/or safety. Prepare, submit and obtain owner/architect approval for change requests.
- Provide a variety of regular reporting and analysis internally and externally to communicate overall project status and profitability.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, general contractors and other construction specialists.
- Ensure that the project complies with legal requirements, such electrical and safety codes.
- Engage in business, industry and community activities to build and strengthen external relationships.
- Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
Requirements
- Previous experience working on commercial electrical projects is required. Candidates without commercial electrical experience are encouraged not to apply.
- Superior time management skills and the ability to multi-task as the APM will be expected to work on simultaneous, fast-paced projects with critical deadlines.
- Attention to detail keeping focus on what is important and required for continued success.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Accept accountability for business results and deliver results that meet or exceed expectations.
- Working knowledge and understanding of National Electric Code.
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally.
- Ability to manage budgets and act strategically to maximize profitability.
