Job Description: Part Time Marketing & Events Coordinator
The Part Time Marketing and Event Coordinator reports to the Executive Director and is expected to work to project a positive image for Downtown Joliet and the Cass and Collins Street Corridors through advertising, public relations, events and promotional activities while promoting the area as a destination to residents and visitors and encouraging the patronage of businesses within the Special Service Area. This in office role includes but is not limited to the following:
Event Management
Coordinate, and execute multiple large-scale downtown events, attracting an average of 5,000 attendees per event.
Oversee the full event lifecycle including concept development, sponsorship strategy, budgeting, logistics, vendor management, execution, and post-event reporting.
Secure all necessary permits, licenses, insurance certificates, street closures, and approvals in coordination with the City of Joliet and relevant municipal departments for events held in City Square and throughout the downtown district.
Serve as primary liaison to City departments (Police, Fire, Public Works, Special Events) to ensure regulatory compliance and public safety standards.
Manage event-day operations from set-up through tear-down (including physical event support as needed).
Develop site maps, run-of-show documents, contingency plans, and risk management procedures.
Track event performance metrics including attendance, sponsorship revenue, vendor participation, marketing reach, and economic impact indicators.
Prepare comprehensive post-event reports with financial summaries, marketing analytics.
Sponsorship
Execute sponsorship strategies for events and marketing initiatives.
Identify, cultivate, and secure corporate sponsors, community partners, and in-kind contributors.
Create sponsorship decks, pricing tiers, and measurable value propositions tied to digital impressions, audience reach, and event attendance.
Maintain sponsor relationships and provide post-event impact reporting demonstrating ROI and brand exposure.
Marketing
Serve as the primary point of contact with the organization’s marketing consulting firm, providing strategic direction, campaign goals, and measurable performance expectations.
Develop and implement digital marketing strategies that increase engagement, visibility, and foot traffic within the Special Service Area (SSA).
Manage and maintain all CCP social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok), including content planning, scheduling, engagement monitoring, and performance tracking.
Create and distribute all written and digital marketing materials, including press releases, website content, newsletters, and electronic communications.
Develop and distribute CCP newsletters and electronic mail campaigns using Constant Contact, including segmentation, list growth, and performance tracking.
Establish and maintain systems for data capture across digital platforms, tracking KPIs such as engagement, reach, click-through rates, open rates, conversions, and audience growth.
Prepare monthly marketing analytics reports for the Executive Director and Marketing Committee.
Serve as a digital marketing resource to SSA business owners, offering guidance on online visibility, branding, and performance tracking.
Assist the Board-appointed Marketing Committee Chair with agenda development, reporting materials, and committee communications.
Attend committee meetings, staff meetings, and City meetings as assigned by the Executive Director.
Business Relations
The following will be done in collaboration with the Executive Director:
Cultivate strong relationships with the City of Joliet, community members, and Special Service Area business owners.
Communicate with Special Service Area business owners any happenings that may affect his or her business (ie: construction, street closures, etc.).
Respond to questions and other daily correspondence with the public regarding the Special Service Area and all things relevant to CCP.
Educate business owners on the business incentives available through CCP.
Other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will have the following experience and skill set:
Qualifications
Proven experience securing sponsorships.
Experience coordinating large-scale events.
Strong digital marketing and social media management skills.
Ability to analyze data and report measurable outcomes.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Education Requirements/Preferred include a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field of study. Preference will be given to applicants with 3-5 years of related experience. Salary starting at $55,000-$58,0000 commensurate with experience.
This is a Part Time in office position and roughly 25-28 hours per week.
