What are the responsibilities and job description for the Barback/Bartender Assistant position at Joker's Icehouse Bar & Grill?
We are seeking a part-time, eagar employee to join our team. As a Barback, you will play a key role in creating a memorable dining experience for our customers. Barback Duties During Open Hours
· Barbacks are responsible for keeping the bar clean and tidy during the shift.
· The bar, bathrooms, and parking lot should be presentable for all guests.
· Barbacks are also responsible for ensuring the bar staff have all the items they need for success (fruit cut, beer stocked, changing kegs, etc.)
· Clearing and disinfecting tables when unoccupied, and clearing dishes and trash when occupied.
· Washing and restocking glassware and dishes when needed.
· Assisting in watching customers for signs of intoxication and informing the bartender and manager when a customer is cut off or needs to be. (In compliance with TABC d50.3 Mandatory Course Curriculum, The law pertaining to intoxicated persons)
· Watching for undesirable behavior by guests to prevent verbal or physical altercations.
· Assisting with verbal and physical altercations by attempting to deescalate the situation. DO NOT put yourself in danger. Call the police if necessary.
Door Responsibilities
· Greeting guests when they arrive with a welcoming personality.
· When working the door shift, you are responsible for checking all identification for birthdates and authenticity.
· No one under the age of 21 is allowed in after 8pm.
· The door person is also responsible for receiving door charges and handling the monies associated with them.
· Small talk with the incoming guests to make sure they are not showing signs of intoxication. And if they show signs of intoxication, do not permit them to enter the building.
· Watch the parking lot for any suspicious behavior (customers leaving and coming back in frequently, hiding behind vehicles, etc.)
· Saying thank you and goodnight to all departing guests, and watching them for signs of intoxication.
o If you notice a guest should not be operating a motor vehicle, stop the guest and direct them to call a cab, use a ride shar app, or sober ride. They are not to drive themselves or leave the premises on foot. (In compliance with TABC d50.3 Mandatory Course Curriculum, The law pertaining to intoxicated persons)
Barback Duties After Closing
· Take out all garbage to the dumpster.
· Break down all boxes and neatly put them in the dumpster.
· Stock all bottled beer utilizing FIFO (First in, first out).
· Wipe down all tables both inside and outside with disinfecting solution even if done when the guests left the table.
· Sweep inside floor and outside patio.
· Clean, disinfect, and restock both bathrooms.
· Mop the entire bar to include bathrooms, guest areas, and behind the bar.
· Restock table napkins.
· Organize the keg and bottle coolers.
· Walk the parking lot and pick up any garbage.
· Turn off all lights and lock all coolers and doors.
· Walk the bar staff to their vehicles and wait for everyone to leave safely before exiting the parking lot.
