BONE DRs Orthopedic Care is seeking an enthusiastic, professional, and detail-oriented Front Desk Medical Receptionist. You are the first and last impression for our patients and play a critical role in ensuring smooth clinic operations, patient flow, and positive financial experience.
I. The Role: Patient Experience and Clinic FlowKey Responsibilities
- Patient Check-In/Out: Warmly greet and register patients, verify patient demographic and insurance information, collect co-pays and balances, and schedule follow-up appointments.
- Insurance Verification & Authorization: Obtain necessary referrals and pre-authorizations for appointments, diagnostic tests, and procedures. Communicate financial responsibilities clearly to patients.
- Scheduling: Manage complex scheduling for multiple orthopedic surgeons, coordinating appointments, surgery bookings, and diagnostic imaging (MRI, X-ray, etc.).
- Communication Hub: Answer multi-line phones, triage calls effectively to clinical and administrative staff, and manage incoming faxes and electronic communications.
- Record Management: Maintain organized, accurate, and confidential patient records in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
II. Qualifications & SkillsRequired:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a medical office, hospital, or specialty clinic setting (orthopedic experience highly preferred).
- Expert proficiency with medical scheduling software and Electronic Health Records (EHR).
- Strong knowledge of medical insurance terminology (PPO, HMO, deductible, co-pay) and verification processes.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Proven ability to multitask and remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
- Experience specifically within an Orthopedic or Surgical practice.
- Familiarity with Texas workers’ compensation and motor vehicle accident (MVA) claims.
- Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish).
